Branding has never been one of my strengths. That’s why the old title of this blog was “a somewhat sarcastic reading of the ELCA’s 25th anniversary slogan:” (almost) always being made (sorta) new.
But since my first attempt at rebranding, a lot has changed. I now serve in parish ministry, I’ve started writing a book (ironically titled “Ponder Anew!”), and I’m going back to school for an advanced master’s degree. These are just some of the shifts on my horizon, and this re-branding is just the first step toward reflecting those changes on my blog.
The new title for this blog is an important phrase by the hymnist Joachim Neander, who wrote “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.” The third verse reads:
Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do
if with his love he befriend you.
This verse in particular reminds us that God has, indeed, befriended us with unconditional love – and that love is an invitation to see how God is making all things new. So once again, welcome aboard!
